This is the first part of a three week teaching course on Gender, Sexuality and the Gospel. This first message introduces the importance of the topic for the church, reminds us that we are talking about real people who need real love, and considers what Gods Word says about marriage and homosexuality.

This is a really important topic, that we need to get to grips with as the church. We can’t avoid it, like it or not, it’s the world we live in so we have to know what we believe and learn how to respond in the right way.
On the one hand we need to understand the issue theologically and ensure that our response is in line with biblical truth. On the other hand we also need to understand the issue pastorally and ensure that our response is in line with biblical love. And we need to do both of these things well, why? because this is about people, it could be people we know, it could be people in our families, this church, our friends, our colleagues, our community, real people who need real love. And so we owe it to them to be clear and compassionate, to be truthfully loving and lovingly truthful.
