Who We Are

The Bridge Church was birthed in September 2007.

The church was formerly known as ‘Kings Church’ and had been in decline for several years until the small group of faithful members that remained reached out to an organisation called Assemblies of God (AOG) for help.

AOG sent one of its strategic leaders, Tim Robertson, to help repurpose the church and find new leadership. At the same time Martin Coleman had recently left his career as a school teacher to attend Moorlands Bible College, and ended up shadowing Tim Robertson as part of his final year block placement. During the placement God clearly called Martin & Sarah and their young family to Chepstow to take on the leadership of the church in Bulwark.

During the summer of 2007, Kings Church closed for the month of August, and the small chapel building in Bulwark was refurbished, the name was changed to The Bridge Church to accompany the simple vision of connecting people closer to Christ, and the doors were reopened on the first Sunday in September and The Bridge Church was launched.

Since that time the church has seen slow and steady growth, both numerically and spiritually. For a period of five years (2008-2013) we held our Sunday services at Thornwell Primary School, before moving (February 2013) to our current premises on Critchcraft industrial estate.

Through the generosity of God's people and the sale of our old building we were able to refurbish the units and transform them into a more welcoming and usable space. Every year, through God's continued faithful provision we have been able to serve the community of Bulwark and Thornwell and sow generously into both local and global needs.

We have seen many people join the church and get involved in the outworking of the vision since our launch in 2007, keeping Jesus right at the heart and centre of our corporate life and activity. We are looking forward to all that God will continue to do in us, through us, and for us in the years ahead.
