Beatitudes - 'Turning the Other Cheek' - Matthew 5:38–42
Matthew 5:38–42What did Jesus really mean when he told us to “turn the other cheek”? Far from calling us to accept abuse passively, Matthew 5:38–42 reveals a courageous way to resist evil without becoming like those who oppose us. Rooted in dignity, freedom, and love, Jesus’ teaching invites us to abandon revenge and respond with the surprising generosity of God’s kingdom. Through the transforming work of the Holy Spirit, conflict can become an opportunity to reveal Christ’s love—and to live with the confidence that we are deeply loved, that not everything is about us, and that everything we face is Father-filtered.
